The Year 9 Scheme of work is designed to prepare students for the rigours of the Edexcel iGCSE and the learning objectives in class will reflect the Edexcel Curriculum. The Year 9 syllabus will help students develop the necessary skills to access the Higher Tier of this course. At the end of the year, students will sit a bridging examination, which in conjunction with topic tests and classwork, will decide whether they would be better suited starting Year 10 on the Higher or Foundation course. Term 1 Half Term 1: (Number) Fractions, Decimals, Percentages, Indices, Standard Form, Ratio, Proportion, Special Numbers, Powers and Roots. Half Term 2: (Algebra) Algebraic Manipulation, Expressions, Formulae, Rearranging, Sequences, Linear Equations and Inequalities. Term 2 Half Term 3: Linear and Real Life Graphs. Perimeter and Area. Half Term 4: Compound Measures, Geometry of Shapes, Constructions and Bearings. Term 3 (SSM)Pythagoras, Right Angled Trigonometry, Similar Shapes. (Data Handling) Graphical Representations of Data, Statistical Measures, Probability and Transformations.
